The Library has 12 floors plus the basement -- see our floor directory for complete details. Books are located on the 2nd - 7th and 9th - 10th floors. The Lobby is the main floor and houses the Circulation Desk (where you go to check books in and out), the Reserves Desk, and Jazzman's. In addition, you can find the current issue of several popular magazines and newspapers along with a new book carousel. We have our general reference desk on the 2nd floor if you need help with the Library or with a research paper. There is a group study room on the 4th floor that can be reserved by groups of 2 - 8 students. The 6th floor, which is our designated quiet floor, is a good place to study. It also houses our Listening Lab. The 8th floor is our administrative offices, so if you are looking for the Dean of Library Services, one of the Library's two department heads, or the systems administrator, that is where you need to go. The 10th floor houses an instruction room, a computer lab, and the Alabama Gallery. The 11th floor is a conference center, and the 12th floor has a spectacular view and also offers quiet study areas. Finally, the basement houses an instruction lab, our Technical Services Departments, the Instructional Media and Special Events Services offices, and the offices of Learning Services.
